Doors to Dignity
Barrie Families Unite (BFU), a grassroots not-for-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap for families in need, is thrilled to announce the launch of its "Doors to Dignity" Seed Funding Campaign. With a goal of raising $500,000, the campaign will support the opening of a social enterprise thrift store designed to provide dignified access to essentials for economically vulnerable individuals and families in the City of Barrie. The thrift store will serve as a cornerstone of the community, offering low-cost or no-cost essentials while acting as a hub for connection, skill-building, and sustainability. Under the "Doors to Dignity" initiative, clients referred by local agencies will be empowered to shop for items that meet their specific needs, fostering dignity, choice, and independence. Together, we can open the "Doors to Dignity" and build a brighter future for Barrie. Join us in making this vision a reality! Donate Now

Pop-Up FREE Clothing Shops
Twice a year, in mid spring and mid fall BFU hosts a multi day FREE Pop Up Shop allowing our clients and clients of other agencies in our community to come to our facility and shop for summer or winter clothing for free. These pop up shop days are always busy and full of gratitude as individuals are able to self select items for their loved ones for the coming season and help stretch their limited dollars. Our most recent event was the Summer Pop Up Shop in April of 2024 where we were able to provide over $80,000 worth of summer clothes for FREE.$0.00 donatedDonate -
Good Food Box
The 2nd Wednesday of every month is a very special day in our community! The Urban Pantry runs a monthly program; The Good Food Box. Barrie Families Unite fundraises and has monthly donors who help us be able to purchase 140 Good Food Boxes each month and deliver to families who are Food Bank dependent. This 25lb delivery of fresh fruits and veggies allows much needed exposure to fresh produce to food insecure households. In our last fiscal year, Barrie Families Unite distributed 1581 boxes, valued at $31,620.
